Simile: “Like twitching agonies of men among its brambles” This image has been used on purpose, to compare the wind tugging on the wire to the men caught on the wire, he uses this image because he sees and hears this awful sight every day. He uses this simile to give insight into what he sees and hears during the war, he’s heard men screams on the the wire enough to directly compare it to something else.
